Abstract
The central idea of this article is that issues of self-writing create the web of Amin Maalouf’s texts. His tales follow the characters at different moments of their development. They promote the awareness of established changes and determine the different phases. His heroes experience an awakening consciousness, begin to understand themselves and the course of their lives. In order to follow more closely some aspects of self-writing in the author’s texts, I will focus on two issues, “the examination of identity” and “construction of self” that are significant.
